AMD's Ryzen AI 400 processors play it safe, but add desktops too AMD is launching the Ryzen AI 400 at CES 2026 as the next chip in the company's CPU roadmap, with what appears to be a similar goal as the current Ryzen AI 300: Aim high on CPU performance, but with sufficient AI TOPS and battery life to attract mainstream laptop buyers, too. AMD said that the Ryzen AI 400 chips will power both Copilot+ laptops as well as "socketed desktops," bringing their AI capabilities to desktop PCs as well. AMD also announced "Pro" configurations of most of the chips, designed to power enterprise PCs. AMD executives didn't refer to the AI 400 by its expected codename, Gorgon Point, but the chip's specs matched up with a leak inadvertently published last year: up to 12 cores and 24 threads using the Zen 5 architecture, with a boost clock that can hit 5.2GHz.

AMD pushes the power of Ryzen AI 300 CPUs to business laptops

PCWorld

AMD announced its third-generation Ryzen Pro processors for business laptops on Thursday, taking the AI power of its Ryzen AI 300 consumer processors and applying them to the business world. AMD launched three very similar members of its Ryzen AI Pro 300 family, with core counts ranging from eight to 12 cores. They'll launch later in October. AMD launched its Ryzen AI 300 laptop processor for consumers earlier this year, and the Ryzen AI Pro is basically that chip with some additional security technologies layered on top. The AI 300 ushered AMD's new Zen 5 architecture into the market, with more cores and more powerful RDNA 3.5 graphics.

Benchmarked: AMD's Ryzen AI 300 brings serious performance to Copilot laptops

What makes the PC the superior platform for personal computing? Sometimes that choice can be daunting though. Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X Elite just launched in Microsoft's debut Copilot_ laptops, coming out swinging against Intel's Core Ultra chip. With the launch of Ryzen AI 300-series today, you're now faced with a third choice. Fear not, as I've just finished testing performance testing of AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, its new flagship processor for Copilot laptops.

ASUS' slimmed-down ProArt laptops focus on AI features

Engadget

ASUS announced a trio of new releases in its ProArt line of laptops at this week's Computex expo in Taipei. These devices are generally thinner, lighter and more portable than previous generations, though that's where the similarities end. The ProArt 16 is a thinner and lighter version of the ProArt Studiobook, which we absolutely loved. The refreshed design is based on the chassis found with the ROG G16, but with some crucial differences. There's a 4K 60Hz screen and a virtual dialpad instead of the physical knob found on the Studiobook. It features a nano black coating that is said to be fingerprint-resistant.

AMD unveils Ryzen AI 300 CPUs for Copilot laptops

Engadget

Microsoft's Copilot initiative for super-charged AI PCs is becoming more of a reality at Computex 2024. Today, AMD announced its next major chip platforms, Ryzen AI 300 for notebooks and Ryzen 9000 for desktops, which respectively target beefier laptop AI performance and fast gaming on desktops. Notably, Ryzen AI 300 chips feature a revamped neural processing unit (NPU) with 50 TOPS (tera operations per second) of AI performance, more than three times AMD's previous laptop hardware. The new desktop processors, meanwhile, are reportedly 16 percent faster than their predecessors when it comes to overall performance. The key takeaway from these announcements is that Qualcomm is no longer the only company able to gloat about fast AI hardware for Copilot PCs.
